David Garza with Shwa Losben & Nick Howard at World Cafe Live on April 6th! |
| |
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 - Showtime 7:30pm - World Cafe Live
Austin-based, American singer-songwriter David Garza "infuses rock and pop with a Latin feel and whose vocal style draws comparisons to Freddie Mercury, Jeff Buckley, Donovan and Robert Plants", says the New York Times. For Garza, everything's connected. Consider this: the release of his highly anticipated full-length album, Dream Delay, comes on the heels of a feverishly popular exhibition tour of Garza's Paintings and Pastels. Which follows the premiere of his acclaimed musical score for the theatrical work, "Fantasmaville." Which shared the spotlight with Garza's scene-stealing performance in the independent feature, Largo The Movie. Which includes highlights of Garza's recent soul-shaking and revelatory live performances in Los Angeles. You get the idea.
After two decades encompassing national tours, critical-acclaim, fan hysteria and stalkers-a-plenty, David keeps it real by keeping it surreal. In his world, poetry and power chords coexist peacefully.
NYC-based Shwa Losben writes smart, catchy rock songs. In 2008, Losben released his debut solo album Chop Chop which Rebel Spirit Music described as "truly outstanding melodies crafted to perfection." The title track earned him the prestigious ASCAP Robert Allen Songwriting Award for which he was honored at Lincoln Center. He can currently be seen packing small venues in New York with his band “The Good Times” while preparing to release his follow-up album this spring.
