Fred Hammond to Headline Sounds of Gospel Concert on the RiverStage at Penn's Landing  |

Gospel music will lift spirits and voices on the on the Delaware River Waterfront at the Sounds of Gospel concert event on Saturday, August 28th from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Gospel fans will flock to the new RiverStage at Penn’s Landing on the Great Plaza to experience some of the Greater Philadelphia region’s most exciting and dynamic church music ministries. Co-Sponsored by WDAS FM, CBS 3 and The CW PHILLY 57, the concert will feature songs of praise and various chorale styles from traditional to contemporary gospel.
The Sounds of Gospel concert will feature headliner, Fred Hammond, a multi-platinum, Grammy award winning recording artist, and various regional choirs. With more than 25 years of singing and creating gospel music, Hammond executive produced and was the inspiration for the movie, The Gospel. Hammond wrote and directed the smash hit musical drama Been There, Done That with popular TV Judge, Greg Mathis. Hammond also has been featured in several Daimler-Chrysler commercials and makes television appearances on nationally syndicated Stellar Awards, BET’s Celebration of Gospel Music, 106 & Park and TBNs Praise the Lord and The 700 Club.
As a solo artist, founder of the pioneering urban group Commissioned and for his work with Radical for Christ, Fred Hammond has sold over 7 million albums and is a constant on Billboard’s Top Ten Gospel Chart including his current CD Unstoppable.
This concert featuring spirit-filled performances on the RiverStage at Penn’s Landing will begin at 3:00 p.m., with Calvary Baptist Church of Philadelphia, followed by a performance by the Mount Airy Church of God in Christ.
Next to take the stage at the Sounds of Gospel Concert, will be minister, musician, artist, producer, singer, model, radio personality, director, CEO, and the list goes on, Reverend Lonnie Hunter and his choir, Structure.
A Stellar award nominated artist and Stellar award winning announcer, Minister Lonnie V. Hunter III made his stunning debut on the Malaco Records label with the contemporary self titled CD Lonnie Hunter and the Voices of St. Mark. An accomplished vocalist, organist, director and actor, Lonnie is making an everlasting impact within gospel music today.
Now a resident of New Jersey, he serves as Pastor of Worship at Bethany Baptist Church, a 26,000 member Mega Church in Lindenwold, NJ. Lonnie can now be seen weekly as the male face of "The Word Network ", and heard as the HOST OF "REAL CHRISTIAN RADIO" Mon-Fri 10am-2pm on Praise 103.9FM. A Philadelphia Radio One Station spanning the entire Tri State area. As husband, father, mentor, artist, and business man, Lonnie lives by Phil. 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me!"
