Veteran Producer T-Bone Burnett Nabs Best Song Oscar
T-Bone Burnett is an Oscar winner. The veteran songwriter and producer nabbed a statue in the Best Song category Sunday at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood. Burnett shared the honor with co-writer Ryan Bingham, winning for "The Weary Kind" from the Jeff Bridges film "Crazy Heart." Burnett and Bingham were critical favorites going into the evening, having already won at the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards earlier this year. It was a first-ever Oscar win for Burnett, who was nominated in 2004 for the song "Scarlet Tide" from "Cold Mountain," which he co-wrote with Elvis Costello. In related news, Spinner.com reports that the 62-year-old will work on Sir Elton John's upcoming LP. Over the years, Burnett's worked with Tony Bennett, The Wallflowers, and Robert Plant.
