Flaming Lips Frontman Working On New Movie
Flaming Lips singer Wayne Coyne has the filmmaking bug again, but his experiences in putting together the movie "Christmas On Mars" are influencing his approach this time around. Coyne tells Billboard.com that one of the reasons it took the better part of a decade to complete the film was having to reconstruct sets every time he shot a scene. The vocalist says that won't be a problem with his next cinematic project, noting, quote, "This one is set in someone's house and in a backyard and in a slaughterhouse. All those are available to me right here, so I don't have to build everything this time." Coyne says he plans to employ his bandmates and friends in Oklahoma City to appear in the movie and may reach out to some celebrity pals as well. He shares, quote, "I'm in the process of begging Justin Timberlake to be part of it. If I'm lucky I'll be able to wear him down in another year." Coyne adds that he and bandmate Steven Drodz have started working on music for the film, and like his past movie efforts they will work on it as time permits.
