Radiohead Bassist Remembers Sparklehorse Leader
The death of Sparklehorse leader Mark Linkous is bringing out musicians inspired by his work. Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood tells Gigwise.com he was sad to learn of the vocalist's passing. He notes Radiohead toured with Sparklehorse back in the '90s, recalling, quote, "They were great every night. His first two records were very important to me, and I carried his music from the tour into my life and my friends' lives too." The bassist adds, quote, "He was softly spoken, with an Old South courtesy I hadn't heard before. He introduced me to Daniel Johnston's music and the West Virginian writing of Pinckney Benedict. Mark wrote and played some beautiful music and we're lucky to have it. Rest in peace." Linkous died over the weekend. His family has confirmed that he took his own life last Saturday. |
