Godsmack Singer Discusses Solo Album
Godsmack frontman Sully Erna is realizing a longtime vision with his solo album, "Avalon." He tells ARTISTdirect.com the set features songs he had been hoping to eventually record. The singer explains, quote, "It's a collection of stuff that I've put aside over the years because it wouldn't necessarily be good for Godsmack. I still really believed in the songs. They were beautiful, for what it's worth." Erna admits it's a bit of a stretch from Godsmack, and adds, quote, "I don't know what to make of it. I can't even put it in a category. If I was a guy working in a record store, I don't know where the CD would go. It's so diverse from one song to the next."
One thing the tracks have in common is the personal touch Erna gave them. He states, quote, "I slit my wrists open and dumped it out with this record. Everything I know in my life up to this point is in this record -- whether it's joy, sadness, anger, disappointment of love, it's all in there." Erna's "Avalon" drops September 14th. |
