Miranda Lambert Thrilled To Follow In Merle Haggard's CMA Footsteps
Miranda Lambert has always looked up to her idol Merle Haggard, and now she shares a record with him. Miranda received nine CMA Award nominations this week, matching Hag's nine CMA nods back in 1970. She says the Haggard connection makes the accomplishment even more special. While Haggard's record fell in 2002, when Alan Jackson received ten nominations for that year's CMA event, Lambert is setting the nomination record for female artists. She's the first woman in CMA history to receive nine nods for one event. The 44th annual CMA Awards will be presented in a ceremony airing on ABC on November 10th, which happens to be Miranda's 27th birthday. Lambert's nominations include Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Album of the Year with "Revolution." She's also a contender for Single, Song, and Music Video of the Year with "White Liar;" Single and Music Video of the Year for "The House That Built Me;" and Musical Event of the Year for "Bad Angel" with Dierks Bentley and Jamey Johnson. Additionally, Miranda's chart-topper "The House That Built Me" received a Song of the Year nod for writers Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin. [[Note language in the following story.]]
