C & C Music Factory's "Things That Make You Go Hmmmm" peaked at number four on the pop singles chart.

2000 - Bryan Adams began physical therapy in his recovery from a motorcycle accident in Jamaica several days earlier. In the accident he suffered injuries to his right knee and calf muscle, as well as scrapes and bruises to his abdomen and right hip.
The family and friends of TLC's Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes became worried about her after she missed a family gathering and a press conference in Las Vegas.
2001 - Michael Jackson hosted the first of two star-packed 30th anniversary concerts at Madison Square Garden. Whitney Houston, Destiny's Child, Marc Anthony, Mya, Aaron Carter, 98 Degrees, Gloria Estefan, Gladys Knight, and Gloria Gaynor were among those who took part in the celebration.
2003 - Hootie and the Blowfish and Vanessa Carlton were among the artists who performed at the Farm Aid concert in Columbus, Ohio.

2005 - A Las Vegas, Nevada jury decided that Rod Stewart should give back two-million dollars to the Rio Hotel Casino for canceling a show in December 2000. The jury also awarded the Rio 600-hundred-thousand dollars in interest. Stewart backed out of the show after undergoing throat surgery, but contended that he was willing to reschedule the event.
Bobby Brown appeared in a Boston court to confirm that he'd been making his child support payments. The former New Edition singer told the judge that he'd put 132-thousand dollars into college funds for his two kids from former girlfriend Kim Ward. Brown also promised to put another 44-thousand dollars in later.
Jennifer Lopez was pulled out onstage on ABC's "The View." The singer was hanging out backstage while hubby Marc Anthony was being interviewed by the all-female panel. Co-host Joy Behar ran backstage to bring Lopez out, who just blew kisses at the crowd and went backstage again.
2006 - Lindsay Lohan had a bag stolen while at London's Heathrow Airport. The Hermes tote was returned the next day with the help of paparazzi members.
Michael Jackson was ordered to pay his ex-wife Debbie Rowe 60-thousand dollars for legal fees in relation to the former couple's child-custody battle.
Paris Hilton was arrested on a DUI charge in Los Angeles. Cops say Hilton had a blood-alcohol content of point-oh-eight, which is the minimum level for an arrest in California. Hilton claimed she only had one margarita on an empty stomach, and that she was in a hurry to get to an In-N-Out Burger restaurant.
Nelly Furtado, Elton John, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Rihanna and the Black Eyed Peas all took the stage the third annual Fashion Rocks event. The event, which helps kick off New York's famed Fashion Week, took place at Radio City Music Hall.< |
