Dave Matthews Band Taking Part In Tonight's NFL Kickoff Concert
The Dave Matthews Band is helping usher in the 2010-2011 football season. The group is joining Taylor Swift in performing at the annual "NFL Opening Kickoff" event. They'll be featured in an hour-long pre-game event in advance of the New Orleans Saints-Minnesota Vikings game, which will mark the start of the new football season. As last season's Super Bowl winner, the Saints are hosting the big game at the Superdome. The pre-game party featuring the Dave Matthews Band with headliner Taylor Swift will originate from New Orleans' Jackson Square. The "NFL Opening Kickoff 2010 Presented by EA Sports" will air live across all time zones on NBC starting at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
This is the ninth consecutive year the NFL has kicked off its new season with a kickoff concert event, and over the years a variety of rockers have participated in the celebration. Good Charlotte has performed at two shows -- in 2003 and 2005 -- while Lenny Kravitz, Green Day, Ozzy Osbourne, Maroon 5 and Hinder have also lent their talents to the annual football celebration. |
